Green School.

Green School was conceived by its founders, John and Cynthia Hardy in 2006, following their exit from their jewelry business. After years of homeschooling, the Hardys wanted their daughters to attend a ‘real’ school. John wanted the girls to attend a school that he believed in, a school that he would want to attend, and he wanted to stay in Bali.

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row column_structure=”1_2,1_2″ module_id=”John Ted Talk” _builder_version=”4.21.0″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_column type=”1_2″ _builder_version=”4.16″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.21.0″ _module_preset=”default” custom_padding=”9px|||||” hover_enabled=”0″ global_colors_info=”{}” sticky_enabled=”0″]

Then one day in 2006, John and Cynthia saw Al Gore’s ‘Inconvenient Truth’ and it changed their life. They were compelled to take up his call to action.

These events gave the Green School plan its reason and purpose, and in August 2006 John and Cynthia decided to build the school.

The School’s bamboo bridge, spanning 22 meters across the Ayung River, was completed in November 2006, creating a beautiful, strong symbol of the transition from the realm of idea to reality.

Green School opened in September 2008 with 90 students and a tailor-made campus that emerged from the jungle and rice fields. Since then it has grown to 514 students and an inspiring example of education for sustainability and a beacon for the future of education, with a growing community of Green Schools opening around the world.

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=”1_2″ _builder_version=”4.16″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_video After years of homeschooling, the Hardys wanted their daughters to attend a ‘real’ school. John wanted the girls to attend a school that he believed in, a school that he would want to attend, and he wanted to stay in Bali. When he read Alan Wagstaff’s “Three Springs”, he was so inspired by the dream that he wanted to build it in Bali.

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width="1/2"][vc_column_text css=".vc_custom_1460277116791{padding-bottom: 50px !important;}"]

Since then it has grown to 400 students and to an inspiring example of education for sustainability.

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width="1/2"][vc_raw_html]JTNDaWZyYW1lJTIwc3JjJTNEJTIyaHR0cHMlM0ElMkYlMkZlbWJlZC1zc2wudGVkLmNvbSUyRnRhbGtzJTJGam9obl9oYXJkeV9teV9ncmVlbl9zY2hvb2xfZHJlYW0uaHRtbCUyMiUyMHdpZHRoJTNEJTIyNTYwJTIyJTIwaGVpZ2h0JTNEJTIyMzE1JTIyJTIwZnJhbWVib3JkZXIlM0QlMjIwJTIyJTIwc2Nyb2xsaW5nJTNEJTIybm8lMjIlMjB3ZWJraXRBbGxvd0Z1bGxTY3JlZW4lMjBtb3phbGxvd2Z1bGxzY3JlZW4lMjBhbGxvd0Z1bGxTY3JlZW4lM0UlM0MlMkZpZnJhbWUlM0U=[/vc_raw_html][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row full_width="stretch_row" parallax="content-moving" css=".vc_custom_1571024701992{margin-top: 0px !important;margin-bottom: 0px !important;border-top-width: 0px !important;border-bottom-width: 0px !important;padding-top: 0px !important;padding-bottom: 0px !important;background-color: #075a2f !important;}"][vc_column][vc_empty_space height="30px"][vc_column_text css=".vc_custom_1460277257266{padding-top: 0px !important;}"][/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=".vc_custom_1459997908188{padding-top: 0px !important;}"]
John Hardy, a Canadian art student who was as creative as he was intuitive, made his way to Bali in 1975.
