Britain’s quest for a thriving marine eco-system.

Grade 8 student, Britain Anderson, returned from Gili Air last term where he built a bio-reef of his own design as part of his grade 8 Quest project.

With the help of our friends at Gili Eco Trust, Britain was able to see his dream come to life – literally!

Britain building reef structure

After a few days of constructing the bio-reef on the beach, he and a team of helpers brought it into the water. Once submerged, they plugged it into a low voltage battery to supply an electrical current that would jump start the calcification of the rebar and create a thriving environment for coral, which in turn, will lead to a thriving eco-system.
