Our curriculum is constantly evolving as we learn from research-based best practices and each other. We have both national and international teachers who bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to our community, and we embrace a growth mindset in our pedagogical approach. You can request an in-depth school prospectus here.[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”How do you prepare students for ‘real life’?”]At Green School Bali, we believe that students learn more from how they are taught than from what they are taught. Our R.E.A.L. learning principles are Relationship-centered and holistic, Experiential and evolving, Authentic and interconnected, and Local to global. The overlapping elements of our programme are skills-based learning, values-based learning, and core academics, via a R.E.A.L. approach. This looks different at the various grade levels, but have in common a commitment to helping students develop a life-long love of learning. In Early Years, our play-based approach focuses on nurturing a connection with nature and with each other. In Primary, students develop core academic skills through hands-on learning and exposure to a wide range of topics. Our Middle School students begin diving more deeply into their personal interests and exploring new skills. In High School, students are supported in discovering and developing an individualized pathway to graduation, whether their lives after Green School lead to top universities around the world, volunteering through service to their communities, or taking an entrepreneurial route. Throughout our learning programmes, our goal is to support students to ‘thrive with purpose,’ whatever their individual path.[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”Does my child need to speak English?”]Students come to Green School Bali from all over the world with varying levels of English fluency. Read our Head of People & Community, Kate Druhan’s, Is This the School for You? We highly recommend visiting our school in person, either during a tour (held daily all year) or by attending one of our Open Days offered twice a year. A more immersive experience is available through Green Camp, a partner program that gives an adventure-focused taste of our unique campus. If an in-person visit is not realistic, we suggest you sign up for an online chat to ask our admissions team any questions. LIFE AT GREEN SCHOOL BALI

[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_toggle title=”What kind of families go to Green School Bali?”]Green School Bali is a wonderfully diverse community, with families originating from over 40 different countries. Our cosmopolitan world-travelers live and learn alongside local families, allowing for opportunities to expand horizons and open hearts and minds.
Some families come for a single year, with parents taking sabbatical from work and focusing on reconnecting with each other and with nature. Others move here with a long term commitment to creating a life in Bali.
What we all have in common is a sense of adventure and a passion for making the world more sustainable. Tolerance of insects and patience with traffic jams helps, but more important is a respect for and interest in local culture and customs.[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”What’s it like being a parent at Green School Bali?”]Green School welcomes the whole family and encourages a multi-generational community.
Many parents take advantage of the co-learning and co-working space on campus, The Bridge. This unique parent resources is often dubbed ‘Green School for grown-ups,’ hosting daily workshops on fascinating topics ranging from building a mindfulness practice to starting a business in Bali.
There are also many other parent-initiated activities like fitness groups, cultural outings, language courses, and volunteer efforts. The Green School Parent Association (GSPA) is an active part of our school whose voice is highly valuable to the constant growth and evolution of our community. Parents can also help with student/class projects and mentoring programs.[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”How ‘green’ is Green School Bali?” el_class=”adm7″]Green School Bali was built with a vision of being a sustainable, wall-less campus that allows students to be immersed in nature through hands-on learning. We are constantly working to minimize our carbon footprint and be a model for sustainability in education globally. A few examples include:

  • Vegetarian school lunches
  • Compost center
  • Gardens for learning and growing food
  • Bio Bus
  • Composting toilets
  • Recycling center
  • Solar energy
  • Vortex hydropower
  • Community outreach
  • Learn more about our campus and sustainability programmes here

We strive to improve in our sustainability, but always put students at the centre. We prioritize solutions which offer great learning for our students.[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”Can we join Green School for a few days, weeks, or months?”]If you are looking for a way to connect with the Green School experience for a period of less than a year (or less than six months for children age 3-5), we suggest one or more sessions at Green Camp, which has options of varying length for children and their families.
Green School English is our partner programme on the Green School campus that prepares children ages 6-10 with limited English skills for entry into Green School Bali. Their programmes range in length from one week to a full semester.[/vc_toggle][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space height=”60px”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”2/5″][vc_single_image image=”21282″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”3/5″][vc_column_text el_class=”adm4″]

LIVING IN BALI

[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_toggle title=”What is living in Bali like?”]Bali is a culturally rich island with a mix of serene natural environments and bustling urban centers. It is many things to many people: ancestral home with tight knit community to locals, a spiritual refuge or epic surf spot for travelers, an affordable, laid back destination for expats.
Green School families opt for a wide range of lifestyles, from modest homes in local villages to luxury villas with ocean views. The cost of living likewise varies depending on factors such as housing, transportation, and holiday travel. Bali is generally affordable by western standards, but families should not move here expecting to find employment once they arrive. The government puts strict restrictions on foreigners taking jobs that could be held by its own citizens, and employment for foreigners is highly competitive.
Modern amenities like western-style grocery stores and shopping malls can be found on the island. However, families often learn to simplify their lives and acclimatize to the locally produced food and warm, humid weather. People who are happiest here tend to let go of their achievement-oriented western expectations and embrace a mindset of gratitude and wonder.[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”How does Green School support families settling in to Bali life?” el_class=”adm7″]If your family is moving to Bali from overseas, the transition to a new country can be stressful. There will be many logistics to sort out, from housing and banking to buying groceries and getting around, but with an adventurous spirit, it can be lots of fun. We support families in their transitions in a number of ways:

  • A detailed Living in Bali Guide for admitted families, which includes resources for many logistical considerations
  • Orientation Day for new students and their parents before the first day of school
  • Soft Landing Day for parents the first week of school, with lots of opportunities to connect with other parents and learn
  • Connecting new families with Class Ambassadors, committed parents who volunteer their time to help new families transition and coordinate grade-level social events
  • New Parents Facebook Group – where new families can connect with current community members, and with each other, prior to arrival.

[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”What are the medical facilities and resources like in Bali?”]There are many clinics and hospitals with English-speaking doctors and staff on island. For more complex medical issues, many families opt to travel to Singapore (a 2.5 hour flight), which has world-class medical facilities and highly trained physicians and surgeons. Medical insurance with flexible coverage will give you more options for treating unexpected medical issues as they arise. Obtaining private medical insurance is a requirement of enrollment.[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”Do we need visas to live in Bali?”]Yes, visas are required by Indonesian law for non-Indonesian students and their parents. For many years, our families have been using Ganesha Bali Consulting, who conveniently have an office on our campus. They can advise you on visa options and associated costs. They can also help with information on the lowest carbon visa solutions (taking account of flights in and out of the country). Please make direct contact with them at visa@ganeshabaliconsulting.com. Alternatively, you may contact the Indonesian Embassy in your country.
