Prospective Parents: Health and Safety

Your child’s health and safety is of utmost importance and because of this we take the issues of health and safety seriously.Green School has a formal written Health and Safety Policy. You can download a copy of the policy here.

A doctor is on campus during school hours to manage any illness or accident. If a child or staff member requires hospital care, an emergency vehicle is available with a designated driver. They will be transported to Bali International Medical Centre (BIMC) which has the highest level of Western-standard health care available in Bali.

Green School is not your average school campus. The paths can be slippery during the wet season and children are more prone to minor cuts and scrapes than they might be in other more traditional school campuses. We ask all children to wear fully enclosed shoes to help prevent accidents. First aid kits are available in every classroom and all staff members (both teachers and administrative staff) attend a first aid training session run by Western trained and qualified health care providers every year.

During any potentially hazardous activities, such as the use of the ropes course, all children will be properly equipped to ensure their safety and the activities will be supervised by staff members. Children are not allowed to play near the Ayung River without supervision. Life buoys can be found on both banks of the river in case of emergency. On some occasions the students may be near the river as part of their classroom activities. They will be supervised by a teacher at all times if this is the case.

There are three designated health and safety officers who are responsible for ensuring the campus is as safe as possible. They carry out regular safety checks in all school buildings. Fire and earthquake drills are carried out regularly.

If your child has any health conditions that may affect them while at Green School (for example, diabetes, epilepsy, allergies etc) please ensure your child’s teacher and the administrative office is aware of the condition. If your child requires medication to be kept on campus in case of emergency (such as insulin or an EPI-pen) this will be held by the doctor.

Green School has a strict motorcycle helmet policy. All students and staff members must wear a helmet while travelling both to and from the school campus. In accordance with Indonesian law. Green School is a non-smoking campus.
