Green School’s third year of operation has seen a huge jump in enrollment numbers as the good news about what we are doing here continues to spread around Bali and far beyond. With students from 6 continents making up our school community, the Green School message continues to grow. We ended Year 2 in June with 132 students and at this point we are poised to break the 200 mark any day now.
Students have joined us from a number of sources: some have moved over from the existing international schools in Bali, others have enrolled through our scholarship program for local children (see the article on our scholarship program and most recent donor family – the De Niro’s), and many have come with their families from different corners of the globe.
Amazingly, at least six of the families that joined us in August had never been to Bali before, but the combination of the island’s mystique plus the unique educational program offered by Green School has been a powerful combination of motivating factors. (See the article Green School – part of the transformation process of the planet to read about one of these families).
We’ve also begun a pilot boarding program for students whose parents were unable to take the Bali plunge themselves; we currently have four students doing homestays with Green School teachers and staff in the Bamboo Village, across the Ayung River from the school facilities.
We are at capacity in many classes with Pre-K to be split into two groups in the immediate future, and we have started waiting lists for January already—with at least twenty new students waiting to join us in Term 2.
