Youth Class (ages 10 – 15): 11:00 am – 12:00 pm Adult Class: 1:30 pm – 3:30 pm

Introductory Lessons

2 hours for Adults: 300,000 rp
1 hour for Youth (15 years and under): 200,000 rp

What You Will Learn

1. How to hold the instrument correctly
2. How to pluck and stroke the keys
3. How the keys are laid out and how the left and right hand manuals relate and interact 4. Basic playing technique 5. Basic notation 6. Learn the basic parts of one, two or three songs – depends on how fast you can learn!

After the Lesson You Should Be Able To:

1. Keep learning on your own
2. Learn by observing more experienced players
3. Sketch your own compositions!

The emphasis of the lesson is a hands-on practical guide to learning to play the mbira rather than on Zimbabwean culture and traditions.


Mr. Chimedza is also available for private, one-on-one mbira sessions at the place of your choice. Call for information.
